How to build a Fixed Wing aircraft

Building a plane or flying wing has gotten much easier. There are plenty of ways to get up and flying, building your own air-frame, building a kit, or getting a ready-to-fly. All these methods will be sure to work with your involvement and skill level. We’re going to go over what you need and what to look for when building your kit plane.

Depending on your kit, you will need different glues and mounting tapes. You will have to plan where to put your electronics to have the ideal signal strength. Planes being more efficient, are used for longer flights and longer distances, signal interference is more important than a usual freestyle drone. You’ll want your gps, receiver and video transmitter to be as spread apart as possible.

The next thing to take into account is your Center of Gravity (CG). You’ll have to position your electronics, weights and battery for your plane to be most efficient and to fly with neutral control surfaces. Depending on the size of battery you want to use and the electronics you use, the setup will be different.

Before your maiden flight, make sure you verify your control surfaces and that all your controls correspond to your liking. For your maiden flight, it is recommended to make the aircraft more nose heavy, as this will prevent stalls and tip stalls while you are trimming the aircraft.

In conclusion, it’s better to make a pre-flight check and verify everything beforehand, to avoid crashes.
